The Strokes performed their first live show in over two years in L.A on Monday as part of a benefit held at The Wiltern. The band marked their return with a series of fan favorites, such as “Last Nite” and “Someday,” alongside a rare cover version and the debut of a brand new song.
Frontman Julian Casablancas said that the new track, tentatively titled “The Adults Are Talking,” had not been rehearsed or planned for inclusion in the set. However, the band ran through it mid-way through their time on stage. Check out footage below.
Later in the set The Strokes dived into the 1980s and pulled out a cover of Erasure’s hit “A Little Respect.” The band turned the upbeat pop tune into something a little more moody and synth-based, thowing in some lyrics from Sinéad O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” for good measure.
The Strokes are playing a number of festivals across the summer, including a headline set at New York’s Governors Ball. Check out their Erasure cover below.
